Terminal Disinfection Technologies for Hybrid ORs
Maintaining a sterile environment is vital in a Hybrid Operating Room. While Catheterization Lab sterility standards are not usually as strict as an Operating Theatre, the Hybrid OR environment demands the more strict approach to be taken. While most surgical cases will only require minimally invasive procedures, a main focus of the Hybrid OR environment is to be prepared for the worst case scenario.
Surgical Site Infections (SSI) and Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) are of the utmost concern in these high-tech environments and every measure possible should be taken to avoid them. The war against these 'never events' is perpetual as pathogens mutate to resist the latest antibiotics and chemical disinfectants.
In the past few years, leading facilities have adopted portable enhanced environmental disinfection
systems that utilize ultraviolet-C (UVC) light to complement infection control protocols already in place to battle superbugs such as Clostridium difficile (C. diff ), methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and other multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs).

The premier portable UVC device is the TRU-D Smart UVC Disinfection System.
